  • DBT-NCCS is honoured to be part of the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomic Consortium (INSACOG) being coordinated by the DBT in association with MoH&FW, ICMR, and CSIR.   • Generation of neutralizing human monoclonal antibodies against SARS-CoV-2: We have initiated work on this CSIR-NMITLI-funded research project, & will be partnering with IIT Indore, PredOmix Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bharat Biotech International Ltd. & AFMC, Pune.
  • COVID-19 Biorepository: NCCS has established a biobank of Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs) and plasma from SARS-CoV-2 infected and convalescent patients for research purposes, in association with the B.J. Medical College. It is recognized as an ICMR-approved bio-repository, and is among 17 institutes listed in the document, 'Establishment of a Network of Biorepositories in India', published by ICMR on 23 July, 2020 (read HERE).
  • Production of pseudotyped SARS-CoV-2 in BSL-2 setting using VSV platform for candidate vaccine development and biomedical research use: We are happy to collaborate with IIT, Indore, on this BIRAC-funded research project.
  • Synthetic antigens as potential vaccine candidates: We are exploring the ability of synthetic peptide antigens to elicit SARS-CoV-2-specific IgA antibodies, which could protect lungs / mucosal surfaces.
  • Genome sequencing of the SARS-CoV-2 virus from clinical samples: We are happy to participate in the collective initiative of the DBT autonomous institutions to sequence the viral genome.
  • Peptide-based therapeutics using machine learning: Machine learning algorithms and computational biology are being used to explore potential therapeutics for COVID-19.
  • Supporting extramural research related to COVID-19: The national cell repository of NCCS has been supplying cell cultures to facilitate COVID research at other organizations.
